The Dimension of Space and Time in the Horoscope
Everyday astrology uses the wheel-shaped horoscope which is mainly concerned with measuring time, There is however, another kind of astrology which concerns itself with both space and time, asking when and where the possibilities in the birth chart might actualize themselves. Known as `locality astrology' or Astro*Carto*Graphy. In this type of astrology, the chart wheel is replaced by a map of the world and the planets as they relate to the entire world as they rise, set and culminate along the map. As well as dealing with the usual issues relationships, money, health etc, its most interesting use lies in its ability to help us understand how particular places can come to symbolize the accepted, suppressed or projected parts of the self.
I wont at this time be looking at the more in depth issues presented by the charts published here, it is my intention just to give those of you who have little or no experience of Astro*Carto*Graphy an idea of how it works by presenting a few simple examples for you too look at so you can decide for yourself whether you feel it is a branch of astrology which you might like to pursue further. I have also decided to publish the Astro*Carto*Graphy maps of the New and Full moons over the next month or so. These maps are calculated for the times given below in the moon phases section and are set for Greenwich London 51n29 00w00.
